Dear Friends of the Hellenic Studies Program,

I would like to bring to your attention the Hellenic Film Society, a new undergraduate initiative, whose purpose is to bring to the Yale campus some of the most accomplished films made in Greece or about Greece. The Society's program will begin with a three part series honoring the late Melina Mercouri, an iconic figure of international stature.

Please not that tonights screening of Stella by Michalis Cacoyiannis will be in LUCE HALL 203 at 8:00 instead of where it was previously announced. This is a landmark film in Greek cinema which is worth watching if only to see the same topic, a woman's attempt at self-determination, refigured as comedy now and with almost the same cast of actors (George Foundas sans the infamous knife) in a subsequent film by an American director and for an international audience in Never on Sunday, which will also be part of the series.

For more information about the series please contact Niki Stellings-Hertzberg at niki.stellings-hertzberg@yale.edu.
